Donna Lynn Thomas has been sewing since the age of four and quilting since she was in college more than 30 years ago. Although she is the author of eight previous quilt titles teaching precision rotary cutting and machine piecing, her first and continuing love has been hand work. This book reintroduces the low-tech hand-piecing skills of yesteryear and integrates them with new and modern machine skills. No longer tied exclusively to a sewing machine, modern quiltmakers can take their piecework on the go with them and once back home take that same project right back to the sewing machine. This integrated approach guarantees continued and versatile progress no matter where they happen to be. Of course, many quilters will discover what one of Donna’s friends observed after hand piecing a project for the book, I had forgotten just how much I really enjoyed hand piecing! Now I look at all my projects with hand-piecing in mind!
