Barbara Brackman has wow’ed us again! But is it really any surprise?
This book giveaway is for Barbara Brackman and Ilyse Moore’s The Garden Quilt: Interpreting a Masterpiece. This quilt is GORGEOUS. They’ve drawn from several applique masterpieces to create their own Garden Medallion quilt.
Barbara and Ilyse got their inspiration for this quilt from Rose Kretsinger’s (1886-1963) quilt “Paradise Garden.” They created their own version with modern quilting techniques. Here are some pics:
To enter to win a FREE copy of this book, simply comment on this blog post! Have you ever recreated an antique quilt? If you were to make this quilt, do you think you’d go with Barbara and Ilyse’s dark background, or Rose’s light background?
We will draw the winners next week! Also, if you haven’t already done so, there’s still time to enter for our String Fling and Springtime in the Rockies giveaways!

I would love the chance at winning this book.
I actually like the darker colored background because it makes everything pop!

I’ve never recreated an antique quilt but I’d sure love to try! I would make it with the light background, it would go better in my bedroom but either quilt is beautiful beyond measure!
Wow! I’ve never tried to recreate an antique quilt!
I love the dark background but I would use a light background because the black would be so hard on my eyes!!!
I am such a fan of black quilts. They are my favorites. I have 2 black ones that I have made.
Beautiful quilts! I’ve never recreated an antique quilt> I love the black quilt, but would have to go with the white version, because I have a hard time sewing on black also!
I recreated a 30s style kit quilt during a year long appliqué workshop.
This quilt is beautiful. I would love to win this book. I have never recreated an antique quilt. But I would like to. I love the black background. If I were to hand quilt it I would have to the light background, as it is very hard on the eyes to hand quilt on black. But if I machine quilt it I would do the black.

These are beautiful . I am partial to the light backgrounds.
Ooooo! I’ve been following Barbara’s blog about this book. I’d love to win a copy!!! Thank you for the opportunity!
No, I haven’t recreated an antique quilt. I think I would make the black version of this quilt. Thank you for the chance to win.
I just collect the patterns, hopefully to get them done when I’m not so busy. The light background for me–eyes are too weary for all that black and I do find it depressing for me. Just not a black fan.
This is my all time favorite antique quilt and I just love it with the black background. Such a Beautiful quilts
Yes, I’ve reproduced an antique pieced quilt using Civil War reproduction fabrics by Judy Rothermel. It was a throw sized quilt made with browns, pinks, reds, and cream. However, the Garden Quilts are spectacular, and I love applique quilts! Since I have two kitties with predominantly white fur, I’m not likely to use a dark background for an applique quilt unless I lock it up after each sewing session. I just might have to do that though because I really think the black blackground is dramatic and exciting!!! Count me as one of Barbara Brackman’s long-time fans and collector and reader of her books, patterns, and her Blog!!!!!
I would much rather make one of these lovelies from the book! Huge fan of Barbara’s style. Another winner!
I love the dark background. I follow Barbara’s blogs and am a huge fan.
I would love to receive this book. Black is my favorite color and applique is my favorite technique. Making this quilt will be a dream come true. One off my bucket list.
This is a quilt I would love to reproduce. Just beautiful and a challenge. Thank you for the chance to win.

I have reproduced an antique quilt using a pieced method, but not an applique quilt. This would be a new challenge for me. Uusally I choose a light background fabric, however, I love the dark background for this quilt design. Thanks for the chance to win …

I like the dark background. I would make this quilt in smaller pieces such as the birds on a Tablerunner, etc
I like both backgrounds but if I had to pick on it would be the black. Would love to win the book giveaway.
I have reproduced an antique quilt from a previous book by Barbra. It was a civil war log cabin that was pictured in her book. I just made up my own pattern as it was only pictured in her book.
