Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: our final book giveaway! And it’s a good one. Now you can enter to win A Bag of Scraps: Quilts and the Garment District by our very own Edie McGinnis.
You know those scrappy quilts with stories to tell and mysteries to solve? One can’t help but wonder where those bits and pieces came from. Edie McGinnis explores the origins of these delightful scraps: likely from one of the nation’s Garment Districts.
In A Bag of Scraps, you’ll learn about the locale and the players: immigrant workers who toiled the factories and designers whose splashy lives became the daily news. You’ll also find easy-to-follow directions to make eight spectacular scrap quilts – some from old designs, some new – and a handful of fun projects. Best of all: a portion of the proceeds from this book will go to support Kansas City’s Garment District Museum.
Take a look at some of the samples below!

These are the kinds of books that are so good on a cold winter day, with history and your cup of tea, your afternoon can drift away learning and being a part of history of these quilts.
I love hearing about the history of quilts and how they came to be on our part of the world! Thank you for this book and hope to read it someday!
Would love to win ANYTHING– even “A Bag of Scraps”!
Edie is such a great quilter. I love the Starry Path quilt.
Quilts and history are the perfect combination.
You do great work. Four out of the last 5 books I have purchased have been Kansas City Star. I want to win this book!!!
The basket! It is a stunner!
That Would be perfect for a remnant stack or stash buster…oh the possibilities!
A great looking book! I love scrap quilts, they are the best. I’d love to try Starry Patt, looks like a lot of fun and a great way to use a lot of fabrics.
I remember Nelly Don clothes. A friend’s mother worked in their factory. I love quilt history and have a BIG scrapy stash just waiting to be put to into a beautiful quilt
This book sounds great! Would love to win it!
I love to try the “I remember that dress!”

I totally love scrap quilts! I have a treasure chest of scraps that I have been accumulating for over 20 years from around the world- would so love to do some of these! I would be honored to be chosen!
Hey I’d love to be considered for your book give away. Why if I won I may even feel obligated to use up some of my precious scraps. Thanks.
I see my comment is “awaiting moderation” what does that mean? Just curious.
Oops I forgot to say what caught my eye or what pattern I’d like to try. Well I think I’d love to try the ‘a starry path’. We could all use some star light along our paths:)
The Basket Quilt is my favorite. The book looks great! Thanks for a chance to win it!
Scrap quilts are my favorite, and my favorite pattern in the book A Bag of Scraps is “I Remember That Dress.” I saved fabric from the dresses I made for my 3 girls during their growing up years, so I would enjoy pulling out those scraps and making that pattern. I LOVE the Pickkedish books, and especially enjoy how the quilt patterns coincide with history.
The Starry Path is beautiful. I love how the black makes the colors stand out, very dramatic.
I Dropped My Little Basket. Wow!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Starry Path. It would be the first pattern I make from this great book
Our Guild is having a “scrap” half square triangle exchange and I am looking for a Scrappy Pattern to use for it. This book sounds like it would have a PERFECT pattern! I would love to win!
” I Remember That Dress”, not only a great looking quilt but a great title. I play that game with the Sunbonnet Sue quilt my grandmother made me.
I love the little basket quilt and it looks great in red and white. Scrap quilts are such a fovirite.
I have always wanted to try a “Nosegay” quilt with green as the paper cone wrapper. I also love the baskets, I remember reading the post concerning the applique handles and know these would use tons of scrappy pieces. Thanks for the chance to win!
would be so excited to see the entire book, the examples shown here get my interest going…. cant wait to see more
I love I Dropped My Little Basket! Thanks for the giveaway!
I have several of Edie’s books but not this one. would love to win it!
Such great patterns! Could maybe do one or two or…..:)
What a great give-a-way! Would love to win. Thanks.
My maiden name is Starr so of course Starry Path would have to be my first choice to try. I also have hundreds of aprons from family members going back to the 1800′s.Perhaps I could put them to better use with the scrappy book!
I have been wanting this new book since it was released. I love quilting books with stories. I have always wanted to make a Nosegay quilt, so that will be my first one! Thanks for the chance to win.
I remember That Dress catches my eye, but I’m most intrigued by the stories to be told.
It is a toss up on which pattern caught my eye first. Love baskets, but have always wanted to do a Nosegay.
Then there is the fact that I do love Edie’s books — they are always special.
